Day 1 Bucharest
Arrival at Otopeni airport, the first gate to Romania. Prepare to enjoy the mix of cultures, the welcoming people and the unequaled beauties of the country. Meet and greet by our professional guide. Bucharest city-tour (done either the first day or the last day, depending on flight details), visiting Parliament Palace, the second largest modern building in the world-after the Pentagon- and Village Museum, with its almost 300 peasant houses brought from all over the country. Lunch within city-tour. Check-in at your 5* hotel, dinner and overnight in Bucharest.

Poiana Brasov Church

Day 2 Bucharest-Sinaia-Azuga-Bran-Brasov-Poiana Brasov
Buffet breakfast. Departure for Sinaia, the Pearl of the Carpathians and visit Peles Castle, former Royal residence, one of the Romanian landmarks, with valuable art collections. On to Azuga and reach the famous Azuga Wine Cellars- who used to be the Royal House supplier- producing sparkling wine; taste wine sorts, followed by lunch. Continue the trip through Dracula’s country and stop in Bran, where Dracula’s Castle attracts thousands of visitors every year with its thrilling stories. Listen to the Castle guide than leave for Brasov, the Gate to Transylvania. Panoramic city-tour and check-in at your 4* hotel in Poiana Brasov, the best known Romanian mountain resort. Dinner at a traditional Romanian restaurant, eating in the sounds of a gipsy small orchestra. Back to the hotel for overnight.

Day 3 Poiana Brasov-Brasov-Racu village
Buffet breakfast. Visit one of the most interesting tourist attractions in Romania, Scheii Brasovului- the museum of the Oldest Romanian School, and the Black Church, with a valuable rug collection. Continue through Transylvania to Racu, a small village populated mainly by a Hungarian origin population. Check in at your pension, followed by lunch at the inn. Short time to refresh, because you are about to be invited to a Hungarian wedding. The picturesque popular costumes, the traditional games, jokes and ceremonies will be completed by the tasty Hungarian food and music. Dance until you break your shoes than, around midnight, go for a resting sleep at your pension.
 

Day 4 Racu village
Breakfast. A rather slow day, as you have to recover after the wedding… After breakfast, the carriages will take you for a tour on the village streets and its surroundings. Back to the inn for a cultural programme: Hungarian dances (4 dancers) you can join and learn. Pick up a comfortable pair of shoes and remember the steps, you will impress your friends upon return. Continue with an open air party with tasty dishes and good music. Back to your pension for dinner and overnight in Racu.
 

Day 5 Racu village
Breakfast. Carriages again? You won’t be bored, trust us. Is the picnic day! The carriages will pick you up at the village centre, in front of the inn. Before departure, you will warm-up with palinka (plum brandy, strong traditional Romanian drink) and hot donut. When everybody is seated, the caravan starts moving. A short detour near Boga Mountain chapel and stop to fill in the canteen with fresh mineral water. By the time you will reach Cetatii (Citadel’s) stream near Paginilor (Pagan’s) Citadel you will be hungry. The view is breathtaking: the green meadows, the flocks, the herd and… the fire where the lard is cooked as it is snack time. You can have a walk near the Paginilor Citadel ruins and listen to the historical presentation. The highlight of the day is cooking the gulash (traditional Hungarian dish) from the ingredients brought in the picnic basket as well as the lamb frying. You can try some wild fruits as a desert. Continue the trip with the sheep fold, to taste fresh sweet cheese and pressed cheese. Dare to milk the sheep and discover the secrets of pressed cheese making. The caravan returns to the village and leaves you at the pension for a well-deserved night sleep.
 

Day 6 Racu-Sighisoara-Sibiu
Breakfast. Today you leave for Sighisoara, the best preserved mediaeval citadel still inhabited in Europe. City tour of Sighisoara, visiting The Clock Tower, the History Museum and Church on the Hill. Lunch at Dracula’s birth house, now a famous restaurant (watch over your neck…). Some time at leisure, to enjoy on your own the romantic atmosphere of this beautiful town. Leave for Sibiu, another Transylvanian citadel well-known for its wonderful architecture and art collections. City-tour of Sibiu, with the Liars’s Bridge, The Big and Small Squares, The Clock Tower (panoramic tour). Dinner and overnight at your 3* hotel.
 

Day 7 Sibiu-Curtea de Arges-Bucharest
Buffet breakfast. Morning visit at Brukenthal Palace, with valuable art collections. Time at disposal for traditional handicrafts shopping. Lunch in Sibiu and departure for Curtea de Arges, considered one of the most beautiful Romanian Monasteries. Listen to the impressive legend of Manole the Master. The evening will find you at a traditional Romanian restaurant, eating amazing dishes and watching a great folk show. Overnight at your 5* hotel in Bucharest.
 

Day 8 Bucharest-home
Buffet breakfast. Time at disposal (for shopping or wondering around). Transfer to the airport for the flight home.
 

Note: most of the Romanian tourist attractions are closed on Mondays. We might need to amend the programme according to this rule, after receiving your flight details.
